Pack 495 Is Now a Family Pack
Pack-495 and our Charter organization have taken the lead in Durham to register our pack as a "Family Pack" which means we are now actively recruiting girls! This is an exciting time for our organization which has been serving families in South Durham for over 50 years.
What to Expect
- As we start off, the girls of all ages will be together in one den
- For weeks 1 -3 of each month, the girls den will meet together for 15 - 20 minutes, then they will join the boys den that corresponds to their age group to work on that week's adventure (rank requirements)
- On week 4 of each month, the whole pack will meet at Triangle Presbyterian Church for our monthly Pack Meeting
- As soon as a particular age group reaches four members, they will branch off to create their own girls-only, age-specific den
- The eventual goal is to have 6 girls-only dens, K-5th grade
- All this is subject to change. We'll see how it goes!
Can girls be in both girl scouts and boy scouts?
There is no rule against a girl being in both. Often, we have families where the girls go to Girl Scouts, then accompany their brothers to Cub Scouts. They can still do this, but now if they register, they can actually receive the rank and other awards.
